Presents current knowledge about human diversity in behavior and culture using examples from a variety of contexts within western and global societies. Highlights topics in cross-cultural psychology, such as intergroup relations, diverse cognitive styles, ethnocentrism, gender, personality, emotion, language, communication, work and health. The role of enculturation throughout the lifespan will be explored to increase awareness of how behavioral and cognitive principles affect interactions in a multicultural world. Prerequisites: None.

An introduction to basic concepts in descriptive and inferential statistics, with emphasis upon application to psychology. Consideration given to the methods of data collection, sampling techniques, graphing of data, use of statistical software, and the statistical evaluation of data collected through experimentation. Required of psychology majors.

The scientific study of how people's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are influenced by other people and situations. Includes how we think about ourselves and others, persuasion and influence, sexual and romantic attraction, friendship and helping others, aggression and prejudice.

Distinguishes between healthy psychological functioning and psychological disorders. Includes topics in psychopathology such as problems with anxiety and depression, eating disorders, substance-use, schizophrenia, sexuality, and personality. Also covers causes and treatments of psychological disorders.

Emphasis on reading study strategies for any introductory class in any subject area. Introduction to Learning Management System (LMS), how to successfully read course textbooks and assessments, how to navigate information technology and development of academic vocabulary.
RDG100 satisfies RDG091 requirement. RDG100 may be repeated for a total of twelve (12) credit hours. Overview of the historical, psychological, social, and cultural aspects of play, leisure, and recreation and their role in contemporary society. Nature of play and leisure behavior in human development within different cultures and the contribution play, recreation, and leisure make to the quality of life for individuals in today's society. In-depth analysis of and individual plan development for the "day-to-day" problems encountered in the operation of a small business. Includes the development of an individual business operations plan including finance, purchasing, production scheduling, maintenance, shipping/receiving,personnel management and insurance/risk management requirements. Investigation of daily problems related to inventory control and business expansion. Prerequisites: None.
Introduces accounting and recordkeeping with emphasis on practical use of financial data for the successful management of a small business. Develops an understanding of the accounting cycle and preparation of financial statements. Includes section on tax consequences and preparation for small business owners. Designed for the non-financially oriented owner/manager of a small business. Prerequisites: None.
Planning for and meeting the financial needs of the small business including cash flow planning, identification of financial needs and sources, equity and debt financing, and preparation of loan packages. Participants complete a financial plan for their individual company, with emphasis on cost controls, sales revenue projection, expense allocation, and inventory cost control. Day-to-day operational budgeting also included. Prerequisites: None.
Introduction to marketing and advertising strategies and methods including business image, target market analysis, and customer buying behavior profile. Analysis and selection of advertising/business promotion methods and timing. Methods of deciding product and market segment focus included. Design of an individual marketing and advertising/promotion plan. Prerequisites: None.
Methods and techniques for managing employees in a small business. Includes supervisor's role, leadership styles, interpersonal communications, staff planning, employee work styles, techniques for handling problem employees, and employee motivation. Focuses on real life situations to enable the business owner to gain high performance from their employee team. Includes segment on hiring, new employee orientation, training, benefits, and developing future staffing needs assessment. Prerequisites: None.
Developing and improving customer relations for the small business. Planning and delivering quality customer service. Includes topics on attitude of employees, customer perceptions and motivations, handling customer dissatisfaction, and developing customer, supplier, vendor, and distributor loyalty. Prerequisites: None.
Relates business management issues to a specific small business through development of an individual study plan. Provides on-site review of business operation by trained instructor.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in (SBS200 and SBS204) or SBS220 or permission of Instructor.The study and scientific inquiry of issues and demands placed on business enterprise by owners, customers, government, employees and society. Included are social, ethical and public issues and analysis of the social impact of business responses. Prerequisites: None.

Provides an overview of the normal development of human communication. Emphasis on normative processes involved in speech, language, and hearing development. Examines the impact of multicultural, multi-linguistic environments on speech and language development. Prerequisites: None.
Explore a variety of communication disorders in children and adults that speech-language pathologists diagnose and treat. Provides an introduction to typical versus disordered communication, the causes, characteristics of a variety of speech, language, hearing, and swallowing disorders, and the effects that they can have on those afflicted with them. Prerequisites: None.
Provides a review of the anatomical systems of respiration, phonation, articulation and resonance and hearing and their relationship to pathologies of speech, language and hearing. Includes basic physiology of systems and the neuroanatomy and neurophysiology related to speech and hearing production mechanisms. Examines the physical characteristics of sound and the structure and function of the human auditory system. Prerequisites: None.
Examines the nature, causes and treatment of language disorders across the lifespan. Focuses on developmental and acquired language disorders in childhood through adulthood. Includes multicultural/multilingual issues and therapy observations. Prerequisites: None.
Provides an overview of English phonetics and phonetic transcription including practice with transcription of normal and disordered speech at the entry-level using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). Examines the nature, causes, characteristics and treatment of a variety of speech sound disorders across the lifespan including phonological processes/disorders, articulation, dysarthria, apraxia, and other organic disorders. Includes multicultural/multilingual issues and therapy observations. Prerequisites: None.
Examines the nature, causes, and treatment of a variety of speech, language, hearing disorders. Focuses on fluency, voice, hearing, and swallowing/feeding disorders. Expands on language disorders in adolescents and young adults including metacognition and cognitive strategies. Includes therapy observations. Prerequisites: None.
Examines issues associated with professional and ethical behaviors, including the Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) scope of practice as specified by state and national governing bodies for the profession. Focuses on indirect activities related to client treatment including creation of lessons, implementation of treatment, and documentation. Includes an overview of universal safety precautions, confidentiality, compliance with laws/regulations, and service delivery options in both the educational and health care systems. Prerequisites: None.
Examines a variety of behavior principles, strategies and techniques used with individuals with communication disorders. Focuses on setting up a positive learning environment, increasing motivation and attention, and using Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) with clients. Prerequisites: None.
Practical experience in completing clinical fieldwork as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA). Provides opportunity to create lesson plans, implement therapy, record client performance and maintain appropriate documentation for a variety of speech-language disorders in a therapeutic environment. A minimum of 100 hours for the clinical interaction experience in this course is required. Prerequisites: None.
Examines the use of Assistive Technology (AT) and Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) systems within various environments to support functional interaction with individuals with disabilities. Focuses on a variety of guiding principles, strategies, accommodations, modifications, computer hardware and software as well as low-tech and high-tech AT and AAC systems. Provides guidelines for need identification and implementation of AT and AAC systems within therapeutic and natural environments. Prerequisites: None.
Examines disabilities with a focus on treatment techniques for low incidence disabilities. Focuses on blindness, deafness, moderate to severe intellectual disability, complex health issues, serious motor and physical impairment, multiple disabilities, genetic syndromes, moderate to severe autism, and social emotional disabilities. Includes therapy observations. Prerequisites: None.
The systematic study of social behavior and human groups, particularly the influence of culture, socialization, social structure, stratification, social institutions, differentiation by region, race, ethnicity, sex/gender, age, class, and socio/cultural change upon people's attitudes and behaviors. Prerequisites: None.

Sociological study of human sexuality. Course examines the social forces that shape a cultureªs sexual practices, attitudes, and inequalities. Topics include the social construction of sexuality, social change, sexual identities, sexual inequalities, institutional influence and regulation of sexuality, as well as current trends and issues surrounding human sexuality. Prerequisites: None.
SOC130 contains mature adult content and some of the topics discussed may be considered "controversial" or "taboo" in some societies and cultures. Students are expected to be able to engage with the content in a respectful and open-minded way.
A sociological analysis of the way culture shapes and defines the positions and roles of both men and women in society. Major emphasis on social conditions which may lead to a broadening of gender roles and a reduction of gender role stereotypes and the implications of these changes. Prerequisites: None.

Examines how the social construction of race shapes social interaction and social institutions. Explores the consequences of power, privilege and oppression among major ethnic and racial groups in the United States. Prerequisites: None.

A systematic and in-depth survey of selected social problems and inequalities from a sociological perspective, including what is known about the problem, recent trends, their causes and consequences, individual and societal responses to them, and possible remedies or policies that could address these issues. Issues to be examined may include issues in health care, dependencies, crime/violence, inequalities in race/class/gender/region/age, family, education, work, the economy, population migration/immigration, the environment, war and global insecurity. Prerequisites: None.
