Foundation course in digital arts and design, with emphasis in the production of art using the computer. Prerequisites: None.
Fundamentals of digital photography. Includes camera operations, exposure techniques, introduction to digital output, and theory of digital photography. Prerequisites: None.
Digital camera required.Basic understanding of design principles and the stages of graphic design, with an emphasis on final product and presentation.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in AVC100 or permission of Instructor.Introduction to the wealth and diversity of Chicana and Chicano Studies research from a variety of disciplinary perspectives through the use of a series of historical and social scientific studies, novels, testimonies, and films.

Basic concepts and processes, including historic overview, of inter-ethnic relations in the United States: culture, race, ethnicity, ethnocentrism, prejudice, discrimination, racism, assimilation, acculturation, and individual and group responses to inter-ethnic contact. Emphasis on rhetoric and composition with a focus on expository writing and understanding writing as a process. Establishing effective college-level writing strategies through four or more writing projects comprising at least 3,000 words in total.

ENG1101 Supplemental instruction for composition courses. Focus on developing effective writing processes to address a range of rhetorical situations.
Prerequisites: Appropriate writing placement test score, or (a grade of C or better in ESL202. Corequisites: ENG101, or ENG107).Emphasis on rhetoric and composition with a focus on persuasive, research-based writing and understanding writing as a process. Developing advanced college-level writing strategies through three or more writing projects comprising at least 4,000 words in total.

ENG1102 Emphasis on critical analysis of various genres of literature; includes study of necessary terminology, introduction to methods of literary criticism, and practice in interpretation and evaluation.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in ENG102.
Students explore definitions of giftedness, ways of identifying gifted and talented students, and types of programs and services developed for this population. Students address issues in educating gifted and talented students.
