Introduces concepts and methods of cultural anthropology, with illustrative materials from a variety of communities in a globalizing world. Explores the concept of culture and examines a variety of cultural and social practices such as subsistence, economics, politics, marriage, kinship, gender and religion. Prerequisites: None.

Emphasis on methods of archaeological fieldwork and what these discoveries reveal about humanity, including the nature of archaeological inquiry, the development of human social groups, the changing role of religion in evolving societies, the origins of agriculture, the origins of settled life ways, the rise of cities and complex societies, political strife across different cultures and the forces which tend to fragment societies. Microeconomic analysis including the theory of consumer choice, price determination, resource allocation and income distribution. Includes non-competitive market structures such as monopoly and oligopoly; and the effects of government regulation. Prerequisites: None.

An introduction to health care ethics with emphasis on analysis and ethical decision making at both the clinical and health policy levels for health care professionals. Theoretical foundation of bioethics reviewed within historical and contemporary contexts.

Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in ENG102 or ENG108 or permission of Instructor.

Chemical, biological, biochemical, and psychological processes as a foundation for the understanding of alterations in health. The structural and functional pathophysiology of alterations in health; selected therapeutics considered.

Emphasis on reading study strategies for any introductory class in any subject area. Introduction to Learning Management System (LMS), how to successfully read course textbooks and assessments, how to navigate information technology and development of academic vocabulary.

Explore the art and origin of storytelling. Provide a variety of storytelling techniques, styles and exercises to enhance the delivery of telling stories. Assist in the integration and application of storytelling to the learning environment in the classroom. Prerequisites: None.
