Introduction to Geology I - Physical GLG101IN

Introduction to Earth's materials, surface and internal geologic processes, plate tectonics and geologic time. Includes practical experience in rock and mineral identification, topographic maps, and applied problems in geology. Prerequisites: None.

Enrollment in both a GLG101IN lecture section and a GLG101IN laboratory section is required.

The following items are required for this virtual lecture/lab course: 1) Computer with digital presences (webcam/microphone) and internet access required 2) Ability to take photos and upload (phone is acceptable) 3) Ability to scan documents and upload (phone is acceptable) 4) Pencil, colored pencils, drawing compass, ruler (inches and centimetres), scissors, tape required 4) Small whiteboard and marker recommended, but not required 5) Printer is very highly recommended, but not required 6) Other materials may be needed for this course
Live Online classes will meet remotely during the scheduled class times using web conferencing software (e.g., Webex, Zoom, or Google Hangouts) for all class dates. Attendance and active participation in these remote class sessions is expected, and all course work must be completed according to the deadlines given in the course syllabus. Students will need to have access to a computer or mobile device, internet, and web camera.
