Fundamental Chemistry with Lab CHM130AA
Credit

A survey of the fundamentals of general chemistry. Emphasis on essential concepts and problem solving techniques. Basic principles of measurement, chemical bonding, structure and reactions, nomenclature, and the chemistry of acids and bases. Preparation for students taking more advanced courses in chemistry. Designed to meet needs of students in such diverse areas as agriculture, nursing, home economics, physical education and water technology.

Student may receive credit for only one of the following: CHM130 and CHM130LL, or CHM130AA.

Students who fail to attend the first scheduled class meeting, or to contact the instructor regarding absence before the first scheduled class meeting may, at the option of the instructor, be withdrawn.
Prerequisites: C or better in (CHM090, or MAT090, or MAT091, or MAT092, or higher, or satisfactory math plcmt) and (RDG100, or RDG100LL, or higher, or eligibility for CRE101 as indicated by reading plcmt), or permission of Instructor, or Dept/Div Chair.

Concurrent Enrollment Required in CHM 130AA LEC (38316) and LAB (38317).
Due to COVID-19, this in person class section has been transitioned to a Live Online section. This class will meet remotely during the scheduled class times using web conferencing software (e.g., Webex, Zoom, or Google Hangouts) for all class dates. Attendance and active participation in these remote class sessions is expected, and all course work must be completed according to the deadlines given in the course syllabus. Students will need to have access to a computer or mobile device, internet, and web camera.
