A survey of the fundamentals of general chemistry. Emphasis on essential concepts and problem solving techniques. Basic principles of measurement, chemical bonding, structure and reactions, nomenclature, and the chemistry of acids and bases. Preparation for students taking more advanced courses in chemistry. Designed to meet needs of students in such diverse areas as agriculture, nursing, home economics, physical education and water technology.
Student may receive credit for only one of the following: CHM130 and CHM130LL, or CHM130AA.
Students who fail to attend the first scheduled class meeting, or to contact the instructor regarding absence before the first scheduled class meeting may, at the option of the instructor, be withdrawn.
Prerequisites: C or better in (CHM090, or MAT090, or MAT091, or MAT092, or higher, or satisfactory math plcmt) and (RDG100, or RDG100LL, or higher, or eligibility for CRE101 as indicated by reading plcmt), or permission of Instructor, or Dept/Div Chair.

Concurrent Enrollment Required in CHM 130AA LEC (37640) and LAB (37641).
Students will be required to participate in class during all scheduled sessions. These sessions will not all be in person due to the recommendations of the CDC. You will be required to meet both in person and remotely during the times this class is scheduled to meet. You must be available to meet in person for any of the scheduled class meetings.
